The New York Yankees could be back on the market for a bat, as third baseman Alex Rodriguez is expected to miss up to eight weeks after suffering a fractured hand in the eighth inning of Wednesday’s 4-2 loss in Seattle.

UPDATE: Wednesday, July 25 at 1:40 a.m. EST by Adam Wells

The New York Yankees have officially placed Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list.

OFFICIAL: A-Rod placed on 15-day DL; Ramiro Pena recalled.

Rodriguez’s absence is going to make it so that other stars in the Yankees lineup have to step up. Nick Swisher is expected to come back soon, so his return will help. They are not starved for power, so at the very least they won’t suffer a substantial drop-off.

I called him Stiff-Rod and Mr. Stiff.  I killed him almost every day.  Now I am going to find out how life goes without him.  Ramiro Pena.  I miss him already.  EDB
