TAMPA, Fla. — Curtis Granderson stopped by to speak with the media members who are staking out Alex Rodriguez outside the Yankees’ minor league complex; Granderson will play five innings tomorrow with the Class A Tampa Yankees to start his rehab assignment. He will play in the field, and will most likely stay with Tampa throughout the weekend.
Granderson said he saw A-Rod, who stopped and talked with him and Jayson Nix for a few minutes. A-Rod was in good spirits, Granderson said, and wanted to take batting practice with them. He didn’t say anything about his quad.
Granderson said A-Rod was “like a little kid at recess when we asked him if he wanted to come hit with us, but [Yankees officials] stopped him and said he had to do some other things.”
