YANKEES SIGN SECOND BASEMAN BRIAN ROBERTS AND HIS DOCTORS

The New York Yankees today announced they have signed two-time All-Star (2005, ’07) second baseman Brian Roberts to a Major League contract for the 2014 season.
Roberts, 36, owns a .278 (1,452-for-5,214) career batting average with 810 runs, 351 doubles, 92 home runs, 521 RBI, 278 stolen bases and a .349 on-base percentage in 1,327 games over 13 Major League seasons with the Baltimore Orioles from 2001-13. 
Roberts was originally selected by Baltimore in the first supplemental round (50th pick) of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft from the University of South Carolina. He played for the USA in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, batting .438 (7-for-16) with six runs, two doubles, one triple, one home run and two RBI.
