PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — The Mets made if official, adding Jose Valverde to the 40-man roster Wednesday.

Valverde may serve as Bobby Parnell‘s primary set-up man. The bullpen also is expected to include Jeurys Familia, Carlos Torres, Gonzalez Germen, Scott Rice and John Lannan.

Valverde, 36, has a 3.00 ERA 0.889 WHIP in nine Grapefruit League innings.
