Maybe people tilt the camera up or maybe they only put these guys next to other people who are shorter, but we never knew that some of these mega stars were so small. You will never guess who number 6 is!
1. Bruno Mars – 5’5
This sexy crooner shows that good things come in small packages. Mr. Mars is 5 feet 5 inches tall, not that it really matters to us. Bruno got his start in life as Peter Hernandez in the beautiful Hawaii before moving to L.A to start recording the songs that we love so much.
2. Sylvester Stallone
It’s hard to believe that the buff action star is only 5’7”, but it’s true. Rocky Balboa may be super muscular but he’s also pretty short for a guy. Still, what Sly lacks in stature, he makes up for in strength and agility–two things he needs to portray characters like Rocky and Rambo. Though he may be short, no one could ever accuse Stallone of being a small dude.
3. Robert Downey, Jr. – 5’9
Standing at 5’9″ tall, Robert Downey, Jr. cannot be considered one of the tallest men around. Fun Fact: While filming ‘The Avengers,’ he had to wear shoe lifts in order to measure up with his 6 feet plus co-stars like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Hiddleston . It is ok though because Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk, is the same height.
5. Billy Joel – 5’5
This insanely talented piano man is actually pretty short. Standing at 5 feet 5 inches, he has been shorter than his last three wives believe it or not!
7. Jon Stewart – 5’6
While Jon has no problem joking about his looks on his super popular show “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, you might not know that he is only 5 feet 6 inches. We think that his wit will win any battle against his Fox News enemy Bill O’Reilly (who is freakishly tall at 6 feet 4 inches)!
8. Dustin Hoffman – 5’5
We loved “Kramer vs. Kramer”, “Tootsie” and “The Rain Man”. This incredibly talented actor stands at 5 feet 5 inches and we could not care less. Maybe this is why he landed his amazing breakout role in “The Graduate”.
9. Usher 5’8
The sexy crooner of songs like “U Make Me Wanna,” “U Got It Bad, “Burn,” and “Yeah!” appears to be kind of tall, thanks to that lean body of his. However, Justin Bieber’s former mentor is actually a little on the short side standing at just 5’8” tall. His stature certainly hasn’t put a hurting on his career, though. Throughout his near-20 year career, Usher has sold more than 30 million albums around the world, including his 2004 mega hit, Confessions, which sold 1.1 million copies in its first week alone, setting a record for highest first week sales of an R&B album ever.
10. Mark Wahlberg 5’8
Like Usher, Wahlberg also stands at just 5’8”. In his days as a rapper and underwear model, he was known as Marky Mark before doing a stint in prison for verbally and physically assaulting two Vietnamese gentlemen in an incident that took place near Dorchester, Massachusetts. After his time in prison, Mark Wahlberg reemerged with a new attitude and a different moniker. No longer wanting to associate himself with his bad boy days, Wahlberg dropped his nickname and began using his real name, again.
12. Seth Green 5’4
It’s no secret that Seth Green, creator of Adult Swim cartoon, Robot Chicken, is a little on the short side. However, most are surprised to find out just how short the jack of all trades really is. Seth stands at a mere 5’4” tall, or short, depending on how you look at it. Like the rest of the guys on this list, Seth hasn’t let his small stature affect his ever-growing career as an actor/comedian/producer/writer. In addition to creating and producing Robot Chicken, Green also lends his voice as Family Guy’s Chris Griffin, and he’s played in movies like the Austin Powers franchise and Can’t Hardly Wait.
13. Michael J. Fox 5’4
Marty McFly was a small guy much like his portrayer, Michael J. Fox, which explains why he was always being bullied. Fox stands at 5’4”, shorter than his wife and children. Fox led a promising career in Hollywood until his symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease forced him to quit his hit t.v. comedy, Spin City. After spending many years out of the spotlight dealing with his disease, Fox recently returned to television in the short-lived NBC series, The Michael J. Fox show.
14. Woody Allen 5’5
The independent director and movie genius stands at only 5’5”. Allen has been producing and directing his own films since 1969, and has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Diane Keaton, Scarlett Johansson, and Judi Davis. Allen recently came under fire in the media, after his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, released a letter detailing how her life had been affected by his alleged molestation against her during her childhood. Allen famously dumped Dylan’s mother, actress Mia Farrow, for her then-20 year old daughter, Soon-Yi Previn in 1992. Mia and Dylan began their allegations against Allen soon thereafter.
15. Danny DeVito 5’0
Sure, everyone knows Danny DeVito is short, but most don’t realize that the veteran actor is only 5 feet tall. Luckily for DeVito, his long career has far outgrown his stature. DeVito has starred in movies such as Terms of Endearment, Get Shorty, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Matilda; in addition to his television career that includes the 1970’s comedy, Taxi and the current FX hit, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
17. Prince 5’2
This 80’s icon is known for his larger than life lifestyle, as well as for pop hits like “1999,” “Kiss,” and “When Doves Cry.” The singer/actor/ producer needs a big personality to make up for his stature–he stands at just 5’2” tall–that’s almost as short as Danny Devito! His lack in stature hasn’t kept the King of Soul from being a ladies’ man, however. He’s dated a slew of beauties, including former Baywatch star, Carmen
Electra.
18. Tom Cruise 5’7
Short stature, check. Big ego, check. Larger than life personality, check. Hmm…we’re sensing a pattern here, and it doesn’t stop with this guy. Tom Cruise stands at 5’7”–that’s four inches shorter than former wife Nicole Kidman and two inches shorter than his most recent ex, Katie Holmes. Like many of the men of this list, Tom’s stature hasn’t stopped him from being a heartthrob, though it is probably Cruise’s biggest insecurity about himself.
20. Daniel Radcliffe – 5’5
At 5 feet 5 inches, Danny is in good company with Bruno. He was the face of one of the largest film franchises. As he grew up, he took on more mature roles in films such as “The Woman in Black” and “Kill Your Darlings”. He will always be Harry Potter to us though!
