It’s likely the busiest time of year for Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.

The MLB trade deadline is at 4 p.m. Thursday. That doesn’t give Cashman much time to improve on a middling Yankees team that has lost its last three after going 7-1.

But that’s what Cashman is bent on doing, he’s said. The GM has said he has every intention of making the Yankees a playoff contender via the trade market. He’s even stated his preference — give him a bat before a pitcher.
