Jeter hits his way into baseball history… again

ARLINGTON, Texas — Derek Jeter’s ground single to right in the seventh inning Monday night pushed him past Carl Yastrzemski into seventh place on the all-time hit list.

Added to a first-inning single and a third inning double in the 4-2 loss to the Rangers, the single in the seventh upped the retiring Captain’s total to 3,420. Next up is Honus Wagner in sixth place with 3,430.

Since Tris Speaker is fifth at 3,514 and Jeter is retiring at the end of the season, sixth is the highest Jeter will be able to reach on the list.
