With all the teams that have been reported to be working on acquiring the services of Jon Lester, add another to the list: the Miami Marlins.

According to Jim Bowden of ESPN, the Marlins are one of several teams that have expressed interest in trading for the Sox lefthander before the July 31 deadline.

The move would most likely be just a rental, however, as it would be unlikely that the Marlins would be able to sign Lester to a long-term deal, given their low payroll.

The Marlins have won eight of their previous 10 games going into Tuesday night, sitting 4.5 games back of the second NL Wild Card spot, while also six games back of the Nationals for first place in the NL East. A move for Lester would signal a “win-now” mentality for Miami as they try to carry their recent success into a possible playoff run.

Bowden also reported that the Blue Jays, Mariners, Brewers, Cardinals, Dodgers, and Orioles are in the running for the southpaw’s services, while CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman also reported on Tuesday that the Pirates were in on Lester as well.

The non-waiver trade deadline is at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
