SAN DIEGO —Now that The Yankees have inked Andrew Miller, the Yankees would like to team Miller with David Robertson by retaining the free agent. With Robertson doing the free-agent dance and several teams interested, the Yankees are talking to teams to see what bullpen help is available in a trade.
The Yankees have checked with the Braves about Craig Kimbrel, the Marlins about Steve Cishek, in addition, Yankees talked with the Royals to see if they were thinking about dealing closer Greg Holland or setup man Wade Davis.
There is no matchup between the Yankees and Royals, who are looking to add a starter through free agency. The Royals know that eventually Holland and Davis, the spine of baseball’s best bullpen, are going to price themselves out of Kansas City.
With the White Sox and Blue Jays interested in Robertson, the Yankees have competition for Mariano Rivera’s replacement, who converted 39 of 44 save chances this past season, his first as a closer.
