In 2014, Dave Robertson, had the more than difficult role of both succeeding and filling in for Mo Rivera. In 44 save opportunities, Robertson showed that he could handle the closer’srole with The Yankees.
When Robertson decided to test free agency, there was a lot of interest from MLB teams.
The Yankees and Genius Cashman offered Robertson the qualifying offer for one year and $15.3 million. Robertson declined The Yankee’s offer. The Yankees did not then turn around and make Robertson another offer. The Yankees placed their interest in the draft pick. Let’s not forget why The Yankees have to think about draft picks, the total mishandling of The Yankees Farm System, under Genius Cashman. The Yankees instead signed Andrew Miller.
In addressing the media, Robertson stated that he was not surprised, because ii was business. “The Yankees had to do what they had to do.”
Robertson is thrilled regarding the prospect of playing for The White Sox in 2015 and beyond.
