The Yankees and General Genius Cashman have concluded their long search for a hitting coach. They have decided to go with a two man team: both Jeff Pentland and Alan Cockrell
Yanks hire Joe Espada as infield coach
The Yankees tabbed Espada to be the infield coach over Willie Randolph. Why not Willie? Oh, the genius made the decision.
Pentland and Cockrell interviewed, quite well. Pentland served as hitting coach with the Marlins, when Joe Girardi was manager. He also worked with the Royals, Cubs and Mariners. Cockrell was the hitting coach for The Rockies in 2001, when they went to the World Series and The Mariners, as well. Pentland is 68 and Cockrell, 52.
