Spring Training is very near and Yoan Moncada may very well be in The Yankees’ plans. Moncada, just 19, is about to become eligible to sign with a MLB club. Scouts say that Moncada could become a second or third baseman and have a bat like Robinson Cano. (As long as he runs hard to first,) that would be good. If Moncada was in the draft, he would most likely be a number one pick. Many have considered The Yankees to be the favorites. It will cost only cash, however The Yankees have exceeded their International Pool Base. Thus they will be taxed 100%. So we will see if Hal will reach into his pocket, especially since The Yankees Farm System is somewhat barren. Despite what the Yankees claim, they have few prospects ready for the majors. It seems the Yankees would not be able to spend more than 300,000 to sign Moncada. So how would they work this out?
