Minnie Minoso, The Cuban slugger, who played for five decades and at age 54, has passed away. Minoso played for 12 of 17 seasons with The White Sox. His number 9 was retired in 1983 and there is a statue of Minoso outside U.S. Cellular Field. Minoso made his debut in 1949 with the Indians. He homered in his first White Sox plate appearance against The Yankees.
